Not really a mystery
I'm trying to be generous to overcome a pet peeve. Any story about abuse of authority and gestapo tactics by government agencies sets my hackles up hard. It didn't help that the agents were so stereotypical and stupid. I think this was supposed to be a comical element. But I stuck it out to watch the love story develop between Meghan Ory's and Andrew Walker's characters. Walker, as usual, is a sure bet and Ory gels with him nicely. At first they spar with one another. Ashley was a bit whiny and self-absorbed in the beginning but inevitably Ashley's true character comes through and her charm works it's magic. ***SPOILER*** I didn't read the book, but might now. The movie's story was obviously predictable, but most romance stories are, at least in the happily ever after. Even though I knew it was coming, Dash showing up with the hay ride clinched it.
Ash and Dash Exceptional On-Screen Chemistry
I have seen Meghan Ory and Andrew W Walker in other movies but their on-screen chemistry in Dashing Through the Snow is exceptional. Here is Ash, with her intensely caring nature and buoyant warmhearted personality and strong, laconic, sensitive Dash, haunted by his war-zone past and aftermath. They are a perfect on-screen match and superb with the puppy. They only needed formally to tie the knot in the end to rate 10 with me. DV I think they should team up again. Starcraft would be a good name for the shop.
Well it Could of been much better and much worse
BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE MOVIE. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I was looking forward to this film. Andrew W. Walke was in "A Bride For Christmas". That was a "Wonderful" film and I was happy to see him again in a Christmas theme film. (Maybe He will do another) In this film (A minor updating of It Happened One Night) a woman can't board her plane. She ends up in the last rental car the airport has but it is being rented by Dash who agrees to let her ride with him as long as she pays for the gas. The film has a nice quick pace and its never boring but it could of been better. My problems is the subplots. There is a few subplots that get resolved "off camera" which is the downfall of the viewing experience. This is the rare case that a LONGER FILM would of been better. This film is enjoyable but it had so much more potential.
Pleasant Christmas Special
This is a pleasant Christmas special that the whole family enjoyed here. The acting is pretty good for one of these holiday TV movie type specials, and the writing and overall production and direction as well. Some good music too!
Movies Misses the Mark.
Our family enjoys watching Christmas movies. This one passed the doze test (no one fell asleep) but I would not watch it again (my son-18 might). The story seems OK but the movie did not succeed in making it interesting or compelling. My wife said she didn't hate it, but it wasn't that good either. I guess we give it a Fair rating. The leading role actress was very pleasant and likable. Her character was fairly well developed and defined. We had some really nice scenes of kids dressed as reindeer, a man giving away puppies, boys switching license plates. No real cohesion to the main story line. The story had some real suspense and surprise, but the film did not exploit it. They just didn't pull it off. It probably could have been a good movie.
