Fighting crime is a full-time job and Batman NEVER takes a vacation. That is until he finally agrees to let Batgirl and Nightwing take him on a long overdue trip - leaving Gotham City under the watchful eye of the Justice League in LEGO® DC Comics Super Heroes - Justice League: Gotham City Breakout. When Batgirl and Nightwing take Batman on a trip down memory lane - literally - to visit one of the key mentors from his formative years, it's up to the Justice League to keep Gotham City crime-free. But neither situation proves to be a "vacation" as the Bat trio encounters old nemeses on their adventure, and the Justice League discovers just how busy Batman is on a regular basis. It's a brick-tastic battle on two fronts as Batman, Batgirl and Nightwing take on Bane and Deathstroke, while the Justice League - with some help from a few Teen Titans - fends off an assault by many of Batman's infamous adversaries to ensure Gotham City's safety.

Lego DC Comics Superheroes Justice League - Gotham City Breakout: Really?
I like DC (I'm a nerd it's in my DNA) I also like LEGO media as it's always had a certain charm about it so it was written in the stars that DC Lego movies would be great for me. Right? This is the first feature length Lego movie I've seen and I have to say, it's an utter mess. I'm blown away by just how bad it was, and many voice acting greats including Troy Baker were involved which makes it that much worse. It's like a Saturday morning cartoon, without the occasional funny joke or nod to the parents. It was decidedly unfunny, the plot was mediocre and...and....I honestly don't even know what to say. It's about Batman taking a holiday, in his absence Superman takes over and finds himself overwhelmed and outsmarted. Yeah, exactly what you're thinking! There are several of these and I'm concerned, are they all like this? The Good: Includes the proper Harley Quinn actress The Bad: Jokers voice is terrible, sounds like he's on helium Practically every joke falls flat Things I Learnt From This Movie: Nobody bothered to tell the writers that Ivy's pheremones don't work on girls A book with no pages is never late from the library Pheremones give you the munchies
Great fun - with some nice 'nods' to DC history.
Possbily my favourite Lego DC Batman/Justice League DtV so far. Standout locations are Gotham, Arkham Asylum, and Joker's Fun House, whilst Madam Mantis's island Dojo looks good. Lost my attention a bit when the action moved to the 'underground kingdom', but the rest easily made up for it. Introduced Nightwing and Batgirl, along with Beast Boy and Starfire flying the flag for the Titans. There's a nice nod to the first foot chase with Red Hood in Batman: Under the Red Hood in the way that a certain character makes his first appearance here and how Batman deduces who he is. Some great reproductions of the covers of Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27 too - in Lego of course. 7.5/10
Utter trash
It's insane that the sublime and the substandard can coexist like this. For anyone who has seen the wonderful Lego Batman Movie currently out in theatres you will literally be jaw-dropped at how bad Gotham City Breakout is. The Lego DC series started off so well but gradually got worse and worse. I have no interest left in this series. It was a mistake to shift the focus away from Batman and bring in the rest of the Justice League, especially Superman, who just doesn't work as a character, in any capacity, in 2017. There is no plot here, just a mess of scenes, but I will try to put it in something resembling a sense-making order. Batman goes away on vacation for his crime-fighting anniversary while Superman does a pretty poor job of watching over Gotham City. Sounds simple enough but they both go off on so many tangents that nothing at all seems to be the focus. The characters are aggravating, the writing so juvenile and cringe-worthy it would make CBeebies blush, and the musical score, as expect, is too loud and intrusive. No child is going to be entertained by this. Despite what the producers might think, children actually want challenging and stimulating entertainment. This is neither. Even at 78 minutes this long outstays its welcome. Skip it.
Worst Batman/Justice League film
This is an unbelievably bad film. The characters are written completely wrong. Since when did Superman struggle to take on a few villains whom he even declares don't have any powers. The script and story is such a mess and doesn't even make sense. They say it's Batman's 1 year anniversary of being Batman but we have characters like Batgirl, Justice league, Robin has already become nightwing. Batman Year One must have been busy according to the writer of this film. Easily passable. Not worth wasting your time on this one.
