Gemma and Will are shattered when their son dies in an accident. Gemma blames herself and starts to have panic attacks that affect her eyesight - her point of view is viscerally shared with the audience. At the same time, Will believes he is hearing his son's voice calling out to him. To escape their grief, Gemma suggests they take up a new acquaintance Paul's offer to stay at his Lake District country getaway. Gemma, helped by ex-pharmacist Paul, tries to stop her panic attacks with medication. Will, believing in the supernatural continued presence of his lost son, returns home to be with him. This leaves Gemma alone with Paul who appears to be developing genuine feelings for her welfare. Love, grief, and the frailty of the human condition are all brought to the fore as Gemma Will and Paul are caught up in a descent into violence, first psychological and ultimately physical.

Gemma Shields (Jasmine Hyde) has a perfect privileged life with her husband Will (Richard Flood). When their son Joel drowns in their indoor pool, their life is turned upside down. Gemma has panic attacks which causes blindness, making driving a challenge. The couple both hear the child from time to time. They decide to get away from it all and go to a home being restored by Paul (Simon Cotton) a seemingly well adjusted person. They develop more problems. Gemma is an atheist while Will is not, which didn't weigh too heavily into the story. I thought the film was going to a psychological thriller/horror, but turned out to be a mediocre drama with the characters lacking credibility. I would say if you haven't seen the classic "Don't Look Now" it is time to watch it instead. Guide: F-word, sex, nudity (Jasmine Hyde)
Started well
I'd never herd of this Movie but thought I'd give it ago after watching the trailer which piqued my interest. Good solid acting throughout by all performers, good camera work and nice location kept me interested almost to the end. Unfortunately the last 30 minutes let the movie down for me, however I have scored a 6 based on the good acting.

I found this a brilliant watch and was on the edge of my seat.

Tough Momma - psychological thriller, a bit like "Malice"
We were struggling to think of the last "serious" film we'd seen, when The Unseen came up. It seems like an emotional drama at first, but builds momentum and earns its psych-thriller badge for sure. For those who saw Malice with Alec Baldwin / Kidman / Pullman, this is modern and quite different, but made me feel similar ups / downs and overall enjoyment. Also nice to have a female protagonist.
